On Monday, during a televised appearance at the White House, President donald trump called for the removal of “ghoulish video games” that contribute to a “culture of violence”, in response to the horrific shootings that took place in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.
Besides, The Acacia Strain found himself swept up in the middle of the tragedyas the Dayton killer wore a band sweatshirt.
The declaration of donald trump echoes past acts, such as the 1950s preoccupation with comic books and attempts to blame music Pop and Rock for violence, sex and Satanism in the 1980s.
Commenting on the subject, Corey Taylor said the following to The Independent :
Music is an easy target because those in power don’t understand it. There is a total lack of understanding, and a lack of will to face up to one’s share of responsibility in these events. If you’re looking for some kind of rhetoric, whether it’s about hating black people or gay people, whatever, there are thousands of sites where people write about it. We are currently experiencing the consequences of failure to resolve this problem. They always want to blame the music, and it’s been going on since the 60s, and then there was Tipper Gore in 85… We have to stop with this bullshit!
Corey Taylor thinks the biggest factor in most shootings is too easy access to firearms.
There are too many guns in America. I could walk out there right now and find a gun in minutes. There’s a very toxic culture here, it’s a cult and that worries me.
Furthermore, the new album of Slipknot entitled We Are Not Your Kind was released on August 9, 2019 via Roadrunner Records.
