The lyrics of One More Light of Linkin Park seem to have recently prevented a man from committing suicide. A fan of the group, Cristina Settannistopped to help a man sitting on the edge of a distressed bridge and, amid her attempts to calm him down, recited the lyrics to the aforementioned song, including:
“If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone’s time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We’re quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do”
“If they say
Who cares if another light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It sparkles, sparkles
Who cares when someone’s time is up?
If a moment is all we are
We are faster, faster
Who cares if another light goes out?
Well me”
Orange County Police released the below video on the matter, which includes an interview with Christina Settanni and images filmed by the officer who was mobilized for the intervention. The story was also published by Linkin Park on Twitter.

The singer of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, committed suicide in 2017. Since then, his family has been heavily involved in actions for mental health awareness. While the song was originally written following the grief felt by a band member after losing a friend, it became an anti-suicide anthem following the death of Chester.
